Calvary Street Property Management is seeking a Personal Care Aide to be responsible for all duties related to safely providing for resident’s care and well-being with kindness, excellent communication, and teamwork. The position requires an understanding and commitment to the principals and values of the community. The Personal Care Aide position requires a caring nature and willingness to care for the elderly.

Responsibilities Care for patients by changing bed linens, washing and ironing laundry, cleaning, bathing, or assisting with personal care. Provide patients with help moving into and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles and with dressing and groomingMaintain records of patient care, conditions, progress, or problems to report and discusses observations with Facility Resident Care Coordinator or supervising RN. Assists with all of the care needs a resident might require.Maintains confidentiality of resident and fellow employee’s informationEntertain, converse with, or read aloud to patients to keep them mentally healthy and alertPlan, purchase, prepare, or serve meals to patients or other family members according to prescribed dietsCheck patients’ pulse, temperature, and respiration. Administer prescribed oral medications as prescribed by physician or as directed by home care nurse or aide, and ensure patients take their medicinesProvide patients and families with emotional support and instruction in areas such as caring for infants, preparing healthy meals, living independently, or adapting to disability or illnessMassage patients or apply preparations or treatments such as liniment, alcohol rubs, or heat-lamp stimulation. Direct patients in simple prescribed exercises or in the use of braces or artificial limbsCare for children who are disabled or who have sick or disabled parentsAccompany clients to doctors’ offices or on other trips outside the home, providing transportation, assistance, and companionshipAttend and participate in the scheduled mandatory in-services and other scheduled meetings  Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Valid Certified Nursing Assistant Certification or D.C Home Health Aide Certification High School Diploma or equivalent preferred1 year of previous experienceValid First Aid/CPR certifications; training provided

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clientsBasic understanding of medical terminologyProficient in the English language

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

For Washington D.C. this ranges from $31,000-$42,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
