Our Team of 11 Perfusionists pump approximately 2,000 hearts per year including CABG,  Valves, Aortic, Heart Transplant and TAVRs. In addition to a well- established ECMO program, we provide coverage for HIPECs and Angiovac procedures.  Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center is a quaternary referral center with Aurora Grafton Medical Center being our sister hospital to Milwaukee’s north.  Our perfusionists also provide the primary clinical and didactic site for the Milwaukee School of Engineering’s Masters in Perfusion Program.  We are proud of what we have accomplished and our contributions in creating today’s standard of treatment.

Licenses & Certifications

Perfusionist license issued by the state of Wisconsin.If new grad, may work under temp license until able to complete certification.Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) certification issued by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart
Association (AHA)

 Education: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Cardiovascular Technology.

Experience: Typically requires 3 years of experience in pumping perfusion cases.  We will consider all levels of experience.  New graduates are welcome to apply.

Skills: Our team members must be self-motivated and desire to work on a team that performs a high volume of cases that are often complex.  We  value both teamwork and autonomy.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

If new grad, may work under temp license until able to complete certification.Excellent organization and prioritization skills; with a high attention to detail.Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and human relations skills.Excellent patient assessment skills.Demonstrated writing, editing and research skills.Ability to work within stressful situations, and to exercise sound judgment in complex situations.Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and electronic medical records.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.Must be able to:lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.lift up to 20 lbs over the head.carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.Must be able to:push/pull with 30 lbs of force.perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.Position requires use of foot pedals on carts or machines.Must have functional vision, speech, and hearing.May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
