As a People & Culture Manager

Here is what you will be doing each day:

Provide daily HR support to hotel leadership and associates, including hiring, onboarding, training coordination, performance coaching, and policy compliance Assist with recruitment and interview processes, ensuring alignment with Crescent hiring practices and compliance with employment eligibility Coordinate and monitor performance evaluations and goal-setting for hourly and salaried associates Lead and support employee relations efforts, including conflict resolution and engagement programs Ensure all People & Culture functions comply with provincial and federal employment legislation, WCB standards, and company safety programs Oversee benefit administration, including new hire enrollments, terminations, and leave management (including personal leaves and WCB claims) Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing, including time edit reviews, overtime alerts, and sign-off on payroll reports Partner with leadership to support Crescent's people-first initiatives and recognition programs, fostering a strong team culture Participate in the MOD (Manager on Duty) rotation as scheduled Support labor relations activities, including grievance handling, contract compliance, and union communication.

 

Who We’re Looking For

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Support the General Manager and department heads in all HR functions and act as a trusted resource to leaders and associates Ensure job postings, onboarding, and employee files are accurate and compliant Deliver mandatory Crescent and Marriott brand training; track progress and follow up on completion Assist with writing performance reviews and recommending merit increases Ensure WCB incident reporting, modified duties, and compliance practices are met Participate in the administration of leaves of absence (including FMLA equivalents and personal leave) Review and assist department managers with weekly scheduling inputs and timekeeping corrections Provide associate support related to policies, compensation, benefits, and development Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, learning, and accountability

 

Required Skills & Abilities

3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in hospitality or service industries Strong knowledge of provincial and federal labor laws (WorkSafeBC, BC ESA, Human Rights Code, etc.) High emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills Organized, proactive, and able to maintain confidentiality Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS/timekeeping systems (UKG/UltiPro preferred) Experience in a unionized setting is an asset
