Job Overview:
The Peer Support Staff works with BA Clinicians and provides daily support to consumers with case management, advocacy, and support for mental health, substance abuse, and/or medical needs in a culturally sensitive and patient-centered manner.
Qualifications:
Required:
HS Diploma or equivalentValid NJ Driver's licenseRelevant life experience: lived experience with mental health treatment and/or in recovery and comfortable sharing your journey
Experience as a Peer Advocate, Counselor or Specialist
Knowledge and understanding of urban issues, hospital procedures, community resources
Commitment to working with clients with compassion and empathy for underserved populationsAble to work in stressful situations and problem solveGood communication and interpersonal skillsComputer literacyPunctual and reliablePreferred:
1 year experience working as a Peer Advocate, Counselor or SpecialistBilingual in Spanish or Haitian CreoleScheduling Requirements:
