What drives the core purpose of this job:
The Peer Specialist is responsible for providing peer support to families and assisting the Case Management Unit in all aspects of its operations in the Home Base (Intensive) Program.
What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:
High School Diploma or GED required. Persons in recovery must have a minimum of three years sobriety as per funder requirements. Must have knowledge of treatment and mental health programs. Working knowledge of criminal justice issues, mental illness, substance abuse, and/or adolescent behavior preferred. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; Ability to work cooperatively with criminal justice, treatment and mental health systems. Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments. Must have access to automobile and possess a valid New York State driver’s license.
