A Peer Specialist assists in the provision of Behavioral Health Services to clients and families. A Peer specialist works as a role model and mentor in the recovery process. The Peer Recovery Specialist will work in the Jersey Shore Paths to Recovery programs where they will support youth and young adults ages 13-25 with ANY substance use disorder and adults 26 and over with opioid use disorder. They can conduct screenings, perform brief interventions, provide recovery support, navigate treatment options, schedule follow up appointments, and arrange wraparound support (e.g. Lyft to appointments). *This is a grant funded position. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. 2. One year experience in the substance use and/or mental health field 3. Peer specialist/provider training 4. Personal lived experience with substance use and/or mental health recovery 5. Strong verbal and written communication skills Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Associates degree or higher in psychiatric rehabilitation, wellness coaching or other related field. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) and/or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) 2.
