**Description:**
**Position Qualifications** :
**Minimum Education, Licensure / Certification and Experience Required.**
**A.** **Education**
+ High School diploma or GED required
+ Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
+ Certification as Peer Recovery Coach preferred and required in first year of employment in role
**B.** **Licensure / Certification**
+ Certification as Peer Recovery Coach preferred
**C.** **Special Skill / Aptitudes**
+ Ability to use critical thinking, logic and reasoning to address complex situations.
+ Ability to serve as a teacher, mentor, and coach to patients, students, and other care team members.
+ Ability to organize and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
+ Analytical skills necessary to support and organize care team members regarding peer counselor role
+ Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
+ Continuously seeks opportunities to improve the quality of patient care delivery through the innovative and creative resolution finding.
+ Demonstrates responsiveness to needs of patients, other care team members, and self.
+ Ability to use and effectively integrate positive approaches to meet diverse patient needs, optimize resources, and adapt care processes to accommodate changes in the healthcare environment.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills to form and maintain positive relationships with customers and other healthcare professionals.
+ Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups
+ Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the local community
+ Have the ability to write simple correspondence, effectively interview clients and accurately record medical information
+ Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situation to clients, and other employees of the organization.
+ Ability to effectively relate pertinent information with medical and social service professionals.
+ Ability to drive a vehicle or have access to reliable transportation. Must be able to travel to the patients home as needed.
+ Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently.
+ Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.
**D.** **Experience**
+ Past or present recipient of mental health or substance use services with at least 3 years of long-term uninterrupted sobriety.
+ Past recipient of home services preferred
