SummaryThe Limited Permit X-ray Technician/MA is responsible for all departmental functions aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of PM Pediatrics. The Limited Permit Xray Technician/MA role is an opportunity for a pediatric medical assistant, possessing both MA and XT licenses, to apply their skills in a pediatric urgent care setting. This role is associated with dual responsibility. The first being, providing primary patient care based on individual patient needs, within their scope of practice, under the physician’s direct supervision. Secondly, this team member will obtain quality radiographs on our pediatric patients. Additionally, this position maintains effective working relationships with all customers, including patients/families, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors.DescriptionResponsibilities
Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operationsGreet and register patients as they arriveObtain medical history, patient vital signs, and intakePerform and document routine labs, such as throat and urine cultures (venipuncture experience preferred)Irrigate and assist with woundsAssist in performing quality control testing in the labBe an integral part of the patient care team and assist with patient care within the scope of practiceKeep exam rooms and front reception stocked with adequate suppliesMaintain order and cleanliness of the waiting room areaPractice standard safety practices and precautionsHelp patients in distress by responding to emergencies and notifying medical team (nurse, urgent care tech, and physician)Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes to management teamMaintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidentialEnhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and challenging requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishmentsAssistant patients with complaints and taking an active role in service recovery when neededPerform other duties as needed including apply splints and assisting the nurse and/or provider in other medical proceduresProvide exceptional customer servicesPrepare patients for X-raysObtains quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, utilizing established Radiology protocols/proceduresDocuments repeat exposures and parent holding log with pocket dosimeter read, as appropriateEnsure that all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulationsImmediately reports any equipment malfunctions to the management teamAssists with the radiology quality assurance programMaintains and documents daily quality control of radiology equipment at the start of shiftQualificationsRequirements
High school diploma or GEDLimited Permit Xray Technician (XT) with Digital Authorization (digital authorization only required if graduation was prior to 1/1/2011). Permitted in, at minimum, chest, extremities, and torso- skeletal.Prior experience and/or education as a Medical AssistantKnowledge or EKG placement and processing in childrenAbility to obtain laboratory tests via nasal swab, and venipunctureDemonstrate a professional and friendly demeanorStrong communications and organizational skillsPrior pediatric experienceCapable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environmentComfortable with computers, Microsoft Office SuiteWilling to learn medical softwareExperience with medical records preferredCompensation:
$30 - $40/hourThe salary/rate range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary/rate for this role. Please note that actual salaries/rates may vary within this range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and based on experience and qualifications.
