Job Overview:
The Cat Scan Technician performs exams accurately per established protocols, policy, and patient safety standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School or GEDCompletion of an approved Radiology Technology program that meets the requirements set by the ARRT and the NJ State DEPPreferred:
Three years of hospital experience as a staff technologist, with the ability to work with minimal supervisionCertifications and Licenses Required:
NJ State License in RadiographyBLS Must be registered and certified in CT by ARRTScheduling Requirements:
Per Diem (PD)Essential Functions:
Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety proceduresPosition patients for CT scans using patient positioning devices and protective equipment as necessaryAssist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicableAssist radiologist with interventional CT proceduresEvaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately labelTransmit to Image Archival SystemDispense and or order oral contrast to patients for CT scansMaintain accurate patient recordsProvide orientation and training to new CT technologistsProvide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families for CT scansProvide education and training to student technologistsCoordinate scheduling and patient flowDemonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administrationDemonstrate proficiency and accuracy in performance of all exam protocolsAssist radiologists in developing new protocols and CT imaging techniques that are unique to facilityBenefits and Perks:
