I. Job Summary
Performs highly specialized tax accounting functions on federal, state and local levels, including filing large volumes of tax returns on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, maintaining fixed assets for tax purposes, and researching tax issues and federal/state audits.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations: Review and apply relevant legislation to ensure payroll processes comply with current laws, minimizing risk and avoiding penalties. Prepare, review, and file periodic payroll tax returns (e.g., 941s, state unemployment, local taxes): Accurately complete and submit all necessary payroll tax documentation within deadlines. Reconcile payroll tax reports to ADP and Oracle registers: Conduct reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies, maintaining data integrity. Research and resolve tax discrepancies, notices, or audits from tax authorities: Investigate and address issues, providing detailed responses and corrective actions to ensure compliance. Monitor changes in payroll tax laws and update internal systems and procedures accordingly: Stay informed of legislative changes, adapting internal systems for ongoing compliance. Maintain accurate records of tax filings, payments, and correspondence: Organize and preserve comprehensive records for easy retrieval and audit readiness. Assist with year-end processes, including W-2 preparation and filing: Prepare, review, and distribute W-2 forms, ensuring accuracy and timely submission. Collaborate with payroll, HR, and accounting teams to ensure accurate employee tax withholding: Coordinate with departments to verify payroll tax calculations and deductions. Manage registrations and set up tax jurisdictions for new business locations: Oversee registration and manage tax jurisdictions to ensure compliance with local requirements. Respond to internal and external payroll tax inquiries promptly and accurately: Provide timely and knowledgeable responses to questions from employees, management, and external parties.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Tax, Business Administration, or similar area of study, Five or more years of previous experience.

Must be authorized to work in the US. Must be in the Houston TX area and able to work in downtown Houston on a hybrid work schedule which is Monday through Thursday in the office and remote on Fridays.
