Payroll Specialist
Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Long Beach, California. In this long-term contract role, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations. This position is ideal for someone with extensive payroll experience who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to contribute to a large-scale payroll operation. Responsibilities: • Manage the full-cycle payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees. • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax laws and wage requirements. • Prepare and review detailed payroll reports, including deductions, garnishments, and tax filings. • Collaborate with internal teams to address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies. • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to audit requests. • Implement and optimize payroll systems, ensuring smooth operations and system functionality. • Handle complex payroll scenarios, including union payroll and multi-state workforce management. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll software and industry best practices. • Provide insights and recommendations for payroll budgeting and forecasting. • Ensure seamless processing of payroll for a workforce exceeding 500 employees. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. • Minimum of 7 years of payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or specialist role. • Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Vista by Viewpoint, or Dayforce. • Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws, compliance regulations, and multi-state payroll processing. • Experience managing payroll for unionized employees and collective bargaining agreements. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. • Certified Payroll certification is highly desirable. • Familiarity with construction or industrial payroll operations is a plus.
