Payroll Specialist
Job Title: Payroll Specialist Job Description As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and processing bi-weekly union and non-union payroll, as well as quarterly Board payroll. You will ensure compliance with the Collective Agreement and maintain payroll data integrity through careful auditing. Additionally, you will interpret government legislation and company policy for all payroll-related activities. Responsibilities + Prepare and process bi-weekly union and non-union payroll and quarterly Board payroll. + Update payroll in accordance with the Collective Agreement. + Maintain payroll data integrity by auditing the pay system for employee changes, new hires, terminations, and earnings and deduction changes. + Ensure compliance with government legislation and company policy in all payroll-related activities. + Prepare records of employment as required by Service Canada. + Calculate and apply Employee Health and Benefit Contributions to ensure accurate deductions. + Analyze and remit liability payments accurately and on time. + Reconcile remittances by accurate reporting of journal entries to the general ledger. + Handle employee garnishments from provincial and federal governments. + Complete year-end payroll functions, including processing T4s and meeting year-end requirements. + Manage the administration of employee benefits programs, including onboarding and offboarding activities. + Review and reconcile monthly benefits invoices from vendors. + Monitor and track time off, vacation, and sick banks for accuracy. + Collaborate with HR regarding inquiries and updates related to people policies, compensation, and benefit programs. + Assist with budget development by providing estimated payroll-related taxes, benefit, and pension costs. + Develop and maintain documentation of payroll, benefit, and pension processes. + Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Proficiency in ADP and payroll processing. + Experience with year-end payroll functions. + Knowledge of union and non-union payroll processing. + Ability to handle both hourly and salary employee payroll. + Experience with ADP Workforce Now. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with payroll reconciliation. + Familiarity with benefits management and reconciliation. + Strong understanding of compliance with government legislation. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr. Workplace Type This is a hybrid position in Milton,ON.
