Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing end-to-end weekly payroll processes, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage laws and providing administrative support. This role demands a high level of accuracy and efficiency, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end weekly payroll, including timecard validation, batch posting, and check printing.Utilize Viewpoint Vista and HCSS HeavyJob for payroll and equipment entry.Prepare Certified Payroll Reports and ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws for Nevada, California, and Hawaii.Track and report fringe benefits, deductions, and union contributions.Process weekly tax payments, garnishments, and payroll-related documentation.Perform front desk duties, including handling phones, filing, and new hire paperwork.Maintain office supplies and support document preparation.Assist executives with clerical tasks and coordinate cross-departmental training.Run local errands, such as post office and bank trips, using a company vehicle.

Essential Skills

2+ years of payroll processing experience; construction industry experience preferred.Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and data analysis.Experience with job-specific rate sets and handling multi-state projects.Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight weekly deadlines.Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge of certified payroll, prevailing wage laws, and union compliance.Experience with Viewpoint Vista and HCSS HeavyJob is a plus.Familiarity with DIR and LCP Tracker (trainable platforms).

Work Environment

The position is located in a modern office resembling a mountain home with high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling retractable glass doors, situated above the Truckee River. The office includes a full kitchen and a large covered deck with seating and a BBQ. The role includes a glass-enclosed office with river views. The accounting team consists of four members, including this position. The office is located in the construction industry, requiring a candidate with a thick skin and openness to feedback. There is an office dog present three days a week. The commute is to an office in Sparks, which is known for its stunning location.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sparks, Nevada.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
