Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll Specialist to join our client's team on a contract basis in Cincinnati, Ohio. This role focuses on managing payroll operations for construction projects, including prevailing wage compliance and certified reporting. Responsibilities:
• Process payroll for employees working on construction projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws, including proper job classifications and wage rates.
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in line with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Reconcile timekeeping data with labor hours and job codes specific to construction projects.
• Maintain and update employee records related to taxes, benefits, deductions, and garnishments.
• Collaborate with project managers, HR, and accounting teams to optimize payroll processes.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee or contractor inquiries.
• Monitor changes in labor laws affecting prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements.
• Ensure payroll systems are utilized effectively to meet construction-specific needs.
• Support audits and compliance checks related to payroll processes.
Requirements
• Minimum of three years' experience as a Payroll Specialist, with expertise in construction payroll.
• Proficient in prevailing wage compliance and certified payroll reporting.
• Familiarity with payroll software.
• Solid understanding of union contracts, labor rates, and tax regulations within the construction industry.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication abilities to coordinate with various stakeholders.
• Preferred qualifications include an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Certifications such as Certified Payroll Specialist or Fundamental Payroll Certification are advantageous.
