Payroll Specialist
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Indianapolis, Indiana. In this role, you will handle full-cycle payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance across multi-state payroll operations. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a passion for delivering precise payroll solutions. Responsibilities: • Process full-cycle payroll, including input, reconciliation, and balancing for multi-state payroll systems. • Ensure payroll accuracy by thoroughly reviewing and verifying data for compliance with company policies and regulations. • Provide excellent customer service by addressing payroll-related inquiries and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner. • Collaborate with team members to maintain accurate payroll records and documentation. • Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation tasks. • Stay up-to-date with payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance across multiple states. • Assist with Workday payroll system processes, if applicable, to improve efficiency and accuracy. • Generate and distribute payroll reports as needed for internal and external stakeholders. • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll operations. • Support other payroll-related tasks and projects as assigned. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing, including multi-state payroll. • Strong knowledge of payroll principles and best practices. • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel functions, such as VLOOKUPs and pivot tables. • Excellent communication and customer service skills to address employee inquiries effectively. • Familiarity with Workday payroll systems is preferred but not required. • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping. • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address payroll discrepancies.
