Johnson Service Group is recruiting a Payroll Specialist for a 2-year contract in Tampa Florida. This is an onsite role 5 days a week. Pay rate in the $20 - $25/hr range
Payroll Specialist This position coordinates the Center's payroll process. Assists the Payroll Supervisor with payroll duties including reviewing and processing Kronos time records, compensation, deductions, adjustments and any other compensation related transactions. Assists with new hire and termination paperwork, payroll reports, payroll balancing and regulatory reporting. Maintains payroll files, prepares manual checks as needed, answers payroll related inquiries, researches and prepares federal, state, and foreign national payroll registration and tax forms, assists in training timekeepers, and ensures confidentiality of payroll information at all times. TYPE OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of automated payroll processing is required, including but not limited to, an automated timekeeping system. Proficiency with computerized financial systems and operations. Familiarity with office organization and procedures. Proficiency in payroll applications, such as Lawson and Kronos, is a plus. Demonstrates competency of Word, and Excel. Job Specific Duties Communicates with all personnel and outside inquires in a timely proactive manner. Manages multiple tasks related to receiving and answering inquiries from employees and outside vendors regarding wages, deductions, accruals and other payroll related matters timely. Consistently provides accurate information and maintains confidentiality of payroll information at all times. Communicates effectively with department personnel. Trains, educates and assists employees and management on all payroll matters. Notifies Payroll Supervisor immediately of any escalated problems. Understands IRS Form W-2 and effectively communicates to employees the information required by the IRS on W-2. Ability to analyze and resolve payroll related issues, expediently and efficiently. Payroll Processing Reviews and verifies employee's change of status and market adjustment information received from Human Resources Systematically. Review and verify all terminations and process final termination payouts. Consistently verifies and processes deduction changes timely. Handles pre-note process and communicates with employee and bank personnel to setup direct deposit file. Accurately calculates all retroactive merit increases within the predetermined timeframes. Reviews and processes all bonus payments. Prepares adjustments or corrections based on employee and manager requests for processing. Reviews and obtains documentation as needed to verify the accuracy of the proposed adjustment. Ensures wages are accurately keyed into the payroll system timely. Reviews and adjusts time records as needed based on payroll exception reports and communicates adjustments to appropriate individuals. Process payroll bi-weekly and ensures payroll taxes are prepared for deposit. Ensures that the ACH Transmission confirmation is performed. Process, prints, seals and mails all manual payroll checks. Completes, logs and maintains the file for verification of employment requests. Researches and prepares employment tax registrations and returns for out of state employees. Ability to interpret and apply HR policies accurately to process payroll. Maintains documentation consistent with the Department and Center's policies.
