Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing of bi-weekly payrolls (approx. 1,000 employees) for 3 Zeiss entities across North America.

The Payroll Specialist assists with multiple payroll harmonization projects in collaboration with Head of Payroll and assists in developing standard procedures for payroll processes in NA (e.g. commission, bonus, vacation accrual).

Acts as the first point of contact for Workday technical questions. The role is responsible for developing core analytics on payroll flux analysis and audit and reconciliation reports for all SBUs.

Ø  Responsible for all payroll cycles (Bi-weekly, Merit, VCS, time tracking).

Ø  Analyzes and reconciles payroll transactions to ensure compliance policy, procedures and payroll tax laws.

Ø  Works with Human Resources Business Partner to control accuracy of benefit deductions (e.g. PTO, third party sick pay, 401K contribution).

Ø  Coordinates with internal and external tax support to ensure accuracy of expat and other payroll tax complications.

Ø  Supports payroll related harmonization projects for the 3 tenants in NA in close collaboration with Head of Payroll (e.g. commission, bonus, vacation accrual, company holidays, pay day alignment)

Ø  Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedure.

Ø  Supports automation and integration system initiatives with third party providers (401K, GL Integration with SAP).

Ø  Proposes system efficiencies and enhancements by partnering with the HRIS team.

 

Ø  Acts as point of contact for Workday payroll technical questions, in relation to interfaces with OSV, ADP and Benefit providers (e.g. HSA spent, Medical/dental)

Ø  Creates standard reports for internal clients:  Accounting, Analytics (e.g. payroll flux analysis and audit/reconciliation reports for 401K).

Ø  Assists with any Workday system upgrade and new acquisition in close collaboration with HRIS.

Ø  Assists with executing analysis and testing for payroll system modifications in case of system upgrade.

Ø  Maintain operational/quality measures and payroll business metrics and associated controls.

 

CPM - American Payroll Association.College degree in Finance and Accounting preferredOutstanding interpersonal skills.5+ years’ experience in payroll department.Workday experience, a requirement.Experience in a shared services center, preferred.Relocation gross-ups and taxation involved for all transferred employeesCompiling and reporting of fringe benefit taxation for employee including personal use of company cars and the recent medical insurance cost reporting requirement on W-2’sExperience working with financial and benefit plan auditorsExperience measuring, tracking and driving payroll service quality. Extensive multi-state and local tax knowledge with proven experience with registration and updates.

The annual pay range for this position is $58,000 – $73,000The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.This position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions.  ZEISS also offers robust benefits, including medical plans, retirement savings plan and paid time off.
