Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Job Description
As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. You will review personnel records, determine new hire details, and manage changes in wage rates and occupations. Your responsibilities include compiling payroll data, computing payments, and calculating deductions such as pension insurance and union payments. Additionally, you will assist in preparing union payroll flow sheets, review bank statements, and ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
Responsibilities
+ Review personnel records to determine names, rates of pay, and occupations of newly hired workers.
+ Compile and prepare seagoing payroll data.
+ Compute payments and calculate data such as pension insurance and union payments.
+ Review payroll tax deductions.
+ Assist in preparing union payroll flow sheets.
+ Review bank statements.
+ Follow company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
+ Audit payroll to ensure accuracy.
+ Assist in processing garnishments and tax levy payments.
+ Adjust errors and complaints.
+ Prepare and issue payments and process direct deposit.
+ Issue and mail checks.
+ Assist in reconciling manual controls to computer totals.
+ Oversee that payroll files and records are archived for permanent retention.
+ Assist in 401(k) reporting.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in payroll processing.
+ Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
+ Knowledge of payroll tax and onboarding procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to follow government regulations and company policies.
+ Excellent communication skills.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
