Payroll Specialist

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Payroll Specialistto support our Corporate Headquarters in Orlando, Florida.

Under supervision of the Senior Finance Manager, the payroll specialist will ensure accurate processing and recording of the company's payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, daily data entry, and perform related work as required.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare, process, and calculate multi-state payroll according to proceduresPerform gross-to-net payroll and manual check calculations as requiredInterpret garnishments, child support orders, and state and federal tax levies and enter in ADPProvide excellent customer service to internal and external customersCoordinate with Human Resources and Finance to ensure accuracy of data in Deltek CostpointPerform daily payroll tasks for multiple companiesProcess employee data for new hires, terminations, or any changesCheck timesheets for accuracy on projects and pay type codingReview timesheets and payroll registers to detect and reconcile payroll discrepanciesFamiliarity with many different leave types (FMLA, Military etc.)Process 401K, HSA, FSA and garnishment paymentsPrepare monthly payroll journal entriesOther assigned duties

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent is requiredAssociate’s degree in finance, accounting, or similar field preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

One to three (1-3) years’ experience in payroll processingDetail-orientedAble to deal with difficult, sensitive, and confidential informationExcellent customer service skillsStrong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skillsStrong organizational, time management and prioritization abilitiesWorking knowledge of payroll best practicesWorking knowledge of federal and state regulationsStrong PC knowledge including proficiency in Excel

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Up to two (0-2) Years’ experience in the Deltek Accounting System (Costpoint) is preferred but not requiredUp to two (0-2) Years’ experience in ADP Payroll (Workforce) is preferred but not required

 

Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8:30am to 5:00pm
