As we continue to grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Payroll Specialist to support our Regional Director of Payroll.
Position Overview:
As a Payroll Specialist, you will process the day-to-day payroll operations, maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data and update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, retirement deductions and state mandated deductions. Assist Human Resources with address changes and department/division transfers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the Regional Director of Payroll and provide support to three (3) Renewal by Andersen operations located in Stamford, CT, Cranford, NJ and Farmingdale, NY (Long Island).
- Coordinate and process weekly and semi-monthly payroll, incorporating hourly and salary wage payments and other earnings and deductions, including various non-standard payments (relocation, bonuses, expenses, etc.), garnishments, and employee benefit and other voluntary deductions.
- Create off cycle payrolls and manual checks as needed.
- Ensure new hire payroll setup is verified in a timely manner to meet the company guidelines for payment.
- Provide payroll details as needed for corporate, federal and state income tax compliance.
- Understand proper taxation of federal, state and local taxes.
- Monitor preparation of ADP payroll tax filings and investigate discrepancies
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of required year-end reporting (W-2)
- Perform periodic audits to ensure complete and total accuracy with all payroll activities
- Prepare payroll reports for managers, supervisors, Human Resources, Vice Presidents and Finance as requested. Work cross-functionally with other departments including Finance and Operations.
- Ensure payroll data input is accurate, complete, and entered on-time.
- Research and resolve payroll issues and respond promptly to all payroll related questions from employees.
- Respond and resolve multi-state payroll notices. Confirm regulations in multi states.
- Perform monthly and quarterly payroll reconciliations to general ledger and 941s.
- Conduct semi-annual payroll audits to ensure complete and total accuracy with all payroll activities.
- Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors, coordinate with ADP as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years in-house, full-cycle payroll experience.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with multi-state payroll processing, federal and state regulations and payroll tax.
- Strong customer orientation with a strong sense of urgency when addressing payroll issues.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities; strong organizational skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication (written/verbal) skills; ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Prior ADP Payroll experience required
- Strong computer skills required (MS Excel, Outlook, Word); previous experience. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central accounting software preferred.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $33-$36/hourly (approx. 68-74k annually)

Schedule:
- On-site in our Cranford office
- Monday-Friday – 8 hour shifts, 40 hour work week
