Description We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Bloomington, Minnesota. In this long-term contract role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring payroll operations are handled accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with HR and Accounting teams while maintaining precise payroll processes.
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll on a biweekly or semi-monthly basis for employees across various pay structures, including hourly, salaried, and commission-based staff.
• Verify and maintain accurate timekeeping records, resolving discrepancies in collaboration with managers and employees.
• Manage payroll records, including deductions, taxes, garnishments, and direct deposit details, while ensuring data integrity.
• Address employee questions regarding pay, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and payroll policies with professionalism.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws and tax regulations in all payroll activities.
• Prepare and file essential payroll tax documents, such as W-2 forms and quarterly tax filings, in a timely manner.
• Partner with HR and Accounting teams to support benefits enrollment, onboarding of new hires, and processing terminations.
• Assist with audits, year-end reporting, and recommend improvements to payroll procedures to enhance efficiency. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing, demonstrating a strong ability to manage complex payroll operations.
• Proficiency with payroll software such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, or similar platforms.
• Solid understanding of payroll and tax regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate payroll calculations and reporting.
• Strong communication skills to effectively address employee inquiries and collaborate with internal teams.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
• Certified Payroll certification is a plus.
• Experience with multi-state payroll and benefits administration is highly desirable.
