Payroll Specialist

 

The Payroll Administrator position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll preparation for hourly and salaried employees, maintaining records of the organization’s financial transactions i.e. payroll and general ledger and supporting the Accounting Supervisor with daily Accounting related duties.

Education Requirements

·        Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related financial field

·        Knowledge of payroll industry software tools, whether through college or separate training courses, is essential

·        Industry-specific certification demonstrates expertise within the field and a commitment to continuing education



 

Payroll Specialist Essential Skills

Payroll Specialist Roles & Responsibilities

 

Administration of payroll involving ADP payroll services Preparation and balancing of bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees including deductions Preparation of payroll initiated remittances Preparation of payroll benefit invoices Responsible for ADP uploads into the general account system

·        Preparation of month-end payroll accruals into the general account system

Preparation of month-end account reconciliations Preparation of quarterly Stepping Stool bonuses, monthly Performance Indicator bonuses and lump sum payments Responsible for adjusting irregularities in pay Responsible for distribution and/or direct deposit of payroll checks Provide information to employees on payroll matters and employee agreement provisions Compile statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to payroll accounts Preparation of payroll end-of-year reporting and reconciliations Assist in preparation of annual government  required JDIG and OneNC reports Provide payroll related reports to management bi-weekly and as requested. General Ledger Verify accuracy of all relevant documents Responsible for maintaining computerized records and/or for providing data for input into general account system Responsible for making and checking entries and totals, balancing at regular intervals as required for reconciliations Responsible for processing various business transactions according to established procedures
