Payroll Specialist
Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Tacoma, Washington. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote and onsite work, and requires a strong background in payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees across multiple states. As part of a collaborative payroll team, you will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all payroll-related activities. Responsibilities: • Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple states on a bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly basis. • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, exemptions, transfers, and terminations. • Calculate wages, benefits, bonuses, deductions, and taxes with precision. • Ensure timely and accurate processing of year-end reporting, such as W-2s and 1099s. • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate payroll reports. • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and timekeeping. • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to implement payroll changes effectively. • Utilize payroll software such as UKG Pro and NetSuite to manage payroll operations. • Adhere to compliance requirements and ensure payroll practices align with regulations. • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and enhance efficiency. Requirements • Proven experience in full-cycle payroll processing, including multi-state payroll. • Expertise in handling payroll for organizations with over 500 employees. • Proficiency in payroll systems such as UKG Pro and NetSuite. • Strong understanding of payroll compliance, taxes, and year-end reporting requirements. • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and coordinate with HR and Finance departments. • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in payroll calculations. • Excellent communication skills to address employee inquiries effectively. • Familiarity with reconciling payroll reports and identifying discrepancies.
