Description
In this role, you will oversee payroll operations while ensuring compliance with union agreements, government regulations, and company policies. Additionally, you will support human resources functions, including onboarding and benefits administration, as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Process and post weekly payroll entries for union and non-union employees.
• Review and import employee time data from accounting software and paper timesheets to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain payroll documentation, including employee records and reporting.
• Calculate and deduct wage garnishments such as child support and court-ordered levies, and report them to the appropriate agencies.
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports to the necessary regulatory agencies.
• Handle quarterly payroll tax returns and ensure compliance with multi-state tax requirements.
• Set up and register withholding and unemployment accounts in new states as needed.
• Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, project leaders, customers, and agencies.
• Manage 401(k) and profit-sharing deductions, ensuring timely submission to providers.
• Collaborate with team members to provide support on HR-related tasks, such as onboarding and benefits administration.
Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in union payroll processing, preferably within the construction industry.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or Business Management is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of union contracts, collective bargaining agreements, and certified payroll reporting.
• Experience working with payroll software; familiarity with Sage 100 is a plus.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, apply critical thinking, and identify potential fraud risks.
• Willingness to assist with HR responsibilities, including onboarding and benefits management.
• Familiarity with multi-state payroll and tax regulations.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills to handle payroll inquiries and collaborate effectively.
The salary range for this position is $65-80K. Our client offers a comprehensive benefit package (medical, dental, vision), along with a 401K, and 2 weeks of PTO.
