Description We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Bloomington, Minnesota. In this long-term contract role, you will play a key part in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with payroll regulations. This position offers an opportunity to collaborate closely with Human Resources and Accounting to support organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll on a biweekly or semi-monthly basis for all employee types, including hourly, salaried, and commission-based staff.
• Review and ensure the accuracy of timekeeping records, resolving discrepancies with managers or employees as needed.
• Maintain comprehensive payroll records and reports, including deductions, taxes, garnishments, and direct deposit details.
• Address employee questions regarding pay, payroll policies, tax deductions, and benefits-related inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with federal, Minnesota state, and local labor laws and tax regulations.
• Prepare and submit required payroll tax forms, including W-2s and quarterly filings, in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams on matters such as benefits enrollment, onboarding new hires, and processing terminations.
• Assist with audits, year-end payroll reporting, and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Utilize payroll software systems effectively to manage multi-state payroll operations and reporting.
• Provide support in resolving payroll-related issues and implementing corrective actions when necessary. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing.
• Proficiency in payroll software systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of federal, Minnesota state, and local payroll and tax regulations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in payroll processes.
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities to address employee concerns and system issues.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
• Certified Payroll certification is a plus.
• Experience managing multi-state payroll operations and familiarity with benefit and auditing functions.
