The objective of the Patterson payroll department is to serve our customers, internal and external, by ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing of time, taxes, and payroll payments. The Payroll Coordinator is one of a group of processors responsible for processing time and payroll entries for 6000+ US-based employees using our Workday system. This position involves direct interaction with employees, managers, and HR representatives, and reports to the Payroll Supervisor. A successful candidate should have strong interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, and exceptional organizational abilities.

Payroll Knowledge
Understanding of payroll laws and multi-state taxation rules.
Understanding of and ability to explain gross-to-net paycheck calculations to non-payroll employees.
Understanding of and ability to explain year end reporting (Forms W-2) to employees.
Payroll Processing
Process bi-weekly payroll and any off-cycle payments accurately and timely.
Assist employees and managers with accurate and timely entry of worked hours.
Review time entries to ensure that all are submitted and approved, following up as necessary
Work with other departments to ensure all anticipated payments are received by payroll.
Enter adjustments for employee wages and tax information, following approval guidelines
Audit payroll results before finalizing the payroll cycle.
Identify and resolve issues related to earnings and deductions, inconsistencies in employee data, and tax-related concerns, taking appropriate partners as required.
Monitor and respond timely to incoming emails, voicemails, and Workday Help tickets
G/L Processing
Review payroll journal entries created by Workday for accuracy and completeness.
Load entries into SAP.
Reporting Duties
Prepare and disseminate payroll reports for Finance, HR, Benefits, and other parties
Prepare and audit payroll reports on a periodic, quarterly, and annual basis while making corrections as needed
Customer Service Skills
Monitor and respond timely to incoming emails, voicemails, and Workday Help tickets
Support employees, managers, and HR in understanding and resolving payroll-related issues.
Clearly articulate issues affecting pay and next steps for resolution.
Provide confident, accurate, and timely resolution for all matters.
Proactively address future concerns where identified.
Required Qualifications
3 years of payroll processing experience in a multi-state environment
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong mathematical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
Experience with Workday Payroll and Time Tracking
5 or more years of payroll processing experience
Experience with payroll accounting (general ledger)
Experience with Workday Payroll and Time Tracking
This position is hybrid and requires in-office attendance in Mendota Heights, MN, a few times each month.
The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills. $22.02 - $26.97
