Payroll Clerk
Description Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing: Collect, verify, and input timekeeping information and other relevant data needed for payroll. Employee Records Management: Maintain and update employee payroll records, including tax forms, direct deposit information, and changes to pay rates or job titles. Data Entry & Verification: Enter and reconcile payroll data accurately, ensuring compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations. Deductions Management: Process payroll deductions such as tax withholdings, benefits contributions, and garnishments. Compliance: Ensure payroll systems and practices comply with relevant labor laws and reporting standards. Issue Resolution: Address and resolve employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies in a professional and timely manner. Communication: Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure consistency and accuracy in payroll processing. Reporting: Generate payroll reports as needed for management, audits, or financial purposes. Skills and Qualifications Excellent organizational and time-management skills for meeting payroll deadlines. Strong numerical and analytical skills. High attention to detail to ensure data accuracy. Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities for interacting with employees and internal teams. Familiarity with payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or QuickBooks). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools. Basic understanding of labor laws and payroll tax regulations. Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or GED required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field is a plus. Previous payroll or data entry experience preferred. Knowledge of payroll best practices and policies.
