Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Job Summary
To advance the mission and programs of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) by providing staff payroll support and maintenance of employee time records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include rates of pay, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other employee information.
+ Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other deductions.
+ Ensure proper pay adjustments related to employee leave of absences take place as part of payroll.
+ Review timecards to ensure accuracy, resolving discrepancies, as needed.
+ Manage the end-to-end payroll process, including processing bi-weekly payroll, reconciliation, and ensuring payroll deadlines are met.
+ Reconcile benefits with bi-weekly payrolls.
+ Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
+ Assist with various Human Resources projects, as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
+ High school diploma or equivalent required.
+ Two years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and/or payroll, required.
Qualifications
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills.
+ Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
+ Proficient with ADP’s Payroll System or ability to learn quickly.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Suite or related software.
Physical Demands
+ Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
+ Ability to work in an environment where animals and allergens (such as pet dander, dust, and other airborne particles) are present.
