Payroll Clerk
Description We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Clerk to manage payroll operations with precision and efficiency. This long-term contract position is based in Washington, District of Columbia, and offers an excellent opportunity for professionals skilled in Workday and payroll systems. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate payroll processing while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities: • Process payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring timely and error-free payments. • Verify and reconcile payroll reports, promptly addressing and resolving discrepancies. • Maintain and update payroll records while safeguarding data confidentiality. • Handle payroll adjustments such as bonuses, commissions, expenses, and garnishments. • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to integrate system data effectively. • Manage employee records, including onboarding paperwork and system updates in Workday. • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues with professionalism and efficiency. • Conduct payroll audits and generate reports to uphold compliance with company policies. • Support upgrades, testing, and enhancements for payroll systems as required. • Assist with annual reporting tasks such as W-2 preparations and year-end tax filings. Requirements • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related fields, or equivalent experience. • Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably for multi-state organizations. • Proficiency in Workday payroll systems and other accounting tools; certifications are advantageous. • Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations at federal, state, and local levels. • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and formula functions. • Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet tight payroll deadlines. • Ability to handle sensitive data with discretion and maintain confidentiality. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with teams and address employee concerns.
