Job Summary
Payroll Assistant 1 helps with payroll by handling tasks in the time and attendance module. The assistant maintains employee payroll information. Payroll Assistant 1 also handles administrative tasks like responding to employment verifications and payroll queries from employees. The role works under close supervision of departmental leadership.
Essential Functions of the Role
Verifies time and attendance data and approvals in the T & A System.Maintains overall system health and interface.Prepares and validates employee data related to payments including amounts, deductions, and deposits.Responds to basic to low complex employee questions via cases regarding payroll-related issues, procedures, and problems.Assists with management reporting and annual W-2 preparation and distribution to staff members.Responds to wage and employment verification requests.Maintains employees’ information related to absences, PTO, EIB, and other payroll deductions.Performs other position-appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.Key Success Factors
Basic understanding of accounting principles and payroll activities.1 year of work experience in the accounting department as a payroll assistant, or a similar position preferred.Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Familiarity with Peoplesoft and API systems. Familiarity with time-keeping methods.Belonging Statement
