Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)

As part of the Payroll Strategy Programme deployment, you will work closely with the core project team. This team constitutes technical, functional, deployment & project governance workstreams and includes both ABB-internal resources and external experts.

The actual deployment of the defined future Payroll and Time & Attendance strategy is currently being prepared and will happen between 2026 and 2030. 

The Global PMO Lead will play a critical role in ensuring the effective execution of the payroll implementation project across 76 countries.  It will have significant decision rights and is expected to provide leadership, strategic advice, and oversight to other roles sitting in the PMO area.

Preferred locations for this role are Poland, UK or Switzerland.

Lead and manage the PMO stream within the program and provides strategic guidance and directionWork alongside third-party payroll vendors and implementation partners in all program management related tasksCreate, own and maintain the global integrated program plan, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables (with details drilled down to a country level)Maintain, manage & mitigate risks by involving necessary parties; and establish the program governance frameworks and adherence to themTransparency and accountability in program execution are provided with consistent and accurate information to different stakeholdersOwn, oversee & manage resource planning and management and ensure clarity of roles and responsibilitiesEstablish and enforce ABB Program Management standards, methodologies, and best practices across payroll implementations and align methodology with the vendorsEstablish and maintain a comprehensive document management framework within the programManage the process of integrating new members into the program (onboarding) and the process of departing members from the program (offboarding)

Your background / Experience

15+ years of experience in project management, a significant proportion of which is in large-scale implementations with 3rd party payroll or HR systemsKnowledge and/or experience with Workday HCM and/or SAP as well as payroll systemsIn-depth knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools (in particular hybrid project management)Demonstrated ability in establishing and managing project governance frameworksExtensive experience in risk identification, assessment, and mitigationExperience in developing and maintaining comprehensive project documentation and reportingExperience in engaging with stakeholders, managing expectations, and addressing concernsAdvanced analytical skills to assess project challenges, identify risks, and develop solutionsCultural awareness and an ability to work with a multitude of people across different countries; experience in leading cross-cultural teamsEnglish language proficiency and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners
