Payroll Analyst
Description We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to join our Finance Division in Clearwater, Florida. This long-term contract role involves managing and supporting payroll functions across multiple departments and agencies, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all payroll operations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, multi-account environment and possess a strong understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, and financial reporting. Responsibilities: • Oversee payroll reports, check registers, tax payments, pension contributions, and other related processes to ensure accuracy and compliance. • Reconcile biweekly payroll reports, manage journal entries, and track payroll cash requirements using advanced financial systems. • Prepare and process complex payroll transactions, including deductions, project cost allocations, and labor reporting. • Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings, ensuring all payroll liability accounts are accurately reconciled. • Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing detailed financial records and documentation. • Identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend system enhancements, and participate in testing and implementation phases. • Train and mentor team members on payroll systems, reconciliation processes, and compliance standards. • Develop and present policies, procedures, and training programs to maintain adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Requirements • Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll in a highly automated environment. • Strong proficiency in multi-state payroll processing and tax reporting. • Advanced knowledge of Oracle ERP systems and other payroll management platforms. • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data analysis. • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience. • Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. • Familiarity with payroll operations in a government or multi-fund setting is highly preferred. • Availability to work flexible schedules, including during special or emergency situations.
