Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to join our team in Dallas, Texas. In this long-term contract position, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance and accuracy in payroll tax processes, reporting, and reconciliation, while continuously seeking opportunities to enhance procedures. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with multiple teams to meet regulatory standards and drive process improvements.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual government payroll tax filings, including W-2 and W-2C distributions.
• Conduct comprehensive analysis and reconciliation of payroll processes, including multi-state taxation, garnishments, levies, benefit deductions, and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Verify and update payroll system settings to reflect current federal, state, and local tax rates and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate and resolve tax inquiries, agency notices, and audits in a timely and accurate manner, providing clear communication to internal and external stakeholders.
• Process wage and tax adjustments for various payroll components, including state income tax withholding, unemployment taxes, and federal withholding.
• Collaborate on payroll-related projects, including system testing, implementations, and documentation of standard operating procedures.
• Manage tax account registrations, closures, and Power of Attorney assignments for third-party administrators.
• Support compliance for employees working across multiple states, including remote workers, by ensuring accurate tax reporting.
• Partner with accounting teams on month-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and payroll journal entries.
• Identify and implement opportunities to optimize payroll processes, leveraging Workday capabilities and staying informed on industry best practices. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience in payroll administration, including compliance with multi-state tax regulations.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
• Familiarity with payroll systems and tools, such as Workday.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external agencies.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
