Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Analyst to join our team in Santa Barbara, California. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll while addressing inquiries and maintaining compliance with regulations. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone with a strong background in payroll operations and problem-solving capabilities.
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll for small to medium-sized businesses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Respond promptly to inquiries regarding payroll and provide clear, detailed explanations to employees and stakeholders.
• Utilize accounting software systems, including ADP and Ceridian, to manage payroll processes efficiently.
• Audit payroll data to identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures as needed.
• Collaborate with benefit functions to ensure proper deductions and contributions are applied.
• Leverage tools such as ServiceNow to streamline payroll-related workflows and communications.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations, including those specific to higher education or government sectors.
• Demonstrate initiative and independence in solving payroll-related challenges and improving existing processes.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support automated payroll systems and enhance operational efficiency. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.
• At least 1 year of experience in payroll or finance operations.
• Proven experience processing payroll for small to medium-sized businesses.
• Ability to handle payroll inquiries with clarity and professionalism.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment in payroll-related matters.
• Familiarity with accounting software systems such as ADP, Ceridian, and other tools.
• Preferred experience in payroll operations within higher education or government sectors.
• Proficiency in auditing payroll data and ensuring compliance with regulations.
