Payment Operations Specialist
Description We are looking for a meticulous Payment Operations Specialist II to join our team in Needham, Massachusetts. In this long-term contract role, you will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of payment processes and related banking functions. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a collaborative team environment while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and standards. Responsibilities: • Oversee daily payment operations, including research, analysis, and processing of check and Automated Clearing House (ACH) exception items. • Conduct reviews of positive pay files, lockbox transactions, sweeps, and other payment services to ensure accuracy and adherence to policies. • Process incoming and outgoing wire transfers while performing quality control checks on account setups and maintenance. • Monitor monthly reports and verify data to maintain compliance with banking regulations. • Stay informed about industry fraud trends and security risks to minimize losses for the bank and its customers. • Assist in training team members and updating procedures to comply with state and federal regulations. • Provide support for customer inquiries and resolve issues related to deposit accounts in a timely manner. • Collaborate on payment operations projects, including system upgrades, testing, and documentation of workflows. • Cross-train with other operations specialists to ensure seamless workflow during absences. • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and service providers to uphold operational standards. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payment operations or related banking functions. • Proficiency in Automated Clearing House (ACH) processes and exception reporting. • Strong understanding of cash management products, bank regulations, and compliance standards. • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities with keen attention to detail. • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on customer advocacy. • Skilled in using Office applications, including Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint. • Flexibility to adapt to evolving processes and technologies while maintaining high ethical standards.
