Purpose of Role:

The ESCO Group, LLC (ESCO) a Division of The Weir Group, is hiring a Pattern Maker Machinist to serve our Portland based Engineering Teams.  We are looking for an energetic, talented, and professional team player who enjoys applying their practical skills to create high quality tooling in a timely manner. 

ESCO’s Innovation Center is a workshop and testing lab for concept exploration, product development, and rapid prototyping.  The Pattern Maker Machinist works under the direction of the Technical Supervisor, Tooling and Methoding Teams, to accomplish tasks related to projects and the work of the Innovation Center.  The Patter Maker Machinist provides technical expertise in all aspects of tooling creating and methoding for proper sand casting, and other machining activities.  The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is able to work safely and autonomously on assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the divisional subject matter expert (SME) on methoding and pattern creation

Collaborate with the Tooling Teams, ESCO Production Facilities, and New Product Development Teams to facilitate prototype creation, advance tooling designs, and problem solving

Support Innovation Center Test Lab activities.

Subject matter expert for the use and care of basic fabrication equipment, and Model shop tools

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.

Completed formal CNC training or equivalent on job training; with 3-5 years of machinist experience

Familiarity with safe operation of metal and wood working hand and machine tools, cutting and welding operations, forklifts and overhead cranes

Experience programming and setting up robotic equipment and CNC machines, experience with HAAS VF8 machining center preferred

Familiarity with MS Office programs; Outlook, Word, Excel

Experience using CAD/CAM tools, NX experience preferred
