The Patient Transport provide transportation of patients throughout the organization to include a variety of support functions associated with safe transfer of the patients from the Emergency Department various departments. This role also facilitates cleaning of rooms between patient use, ensuring infection control measures are met.
What the Patient Transport will do:
Utilizes SBAR Patient Transport Report and talks with the RN to gain information about the patient and their current condition prior to the transport. Assists with preparation of the patient for transport. Monitors intravenous lines during transfer. Monitors safety and comfort of patient during transport. Maintains proper oxygen levels of patient during transport. Prioritizes workload to ensure that all patients are transported by their schedule times. Provides/performs cleaning and maintenance of transport equipment, answering phones, assisting with patient positioning/transfer, retrieving, and/or returning supplies, maintaining linen supplies, filing, etc.Facilitates cleaning of rooms.Empties kick buck and removes trash as needed.Removes all equipment and returns to appropriate areas.Cleans stretcher, counter, table tops, cables, cords and lead wires with appropriate cleaning solution.What the Patient Transport will need:
High school diploma / GEDCertification or re-certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within one month of hire.Preferred: six months of patient careFamiliarity with standard desktop and windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation.
