Job Summary

The Patient Services Specialist In basket helps in the delivery of health care to patients. Performs appropriate clerical tasks for role associated with the in basket and patient electronic medical records.

Essential Functions of the Role

Addresses in-scope, patient messaging using standard workflows. Serves as initial reviewer of all in basket messages for assigned care team. Identifies messages appropriate for top of license/role. Marks status of in basket messages appropriately so that other care team members can identify areas of ownership. Matures and routes messages not in scope.Responds to and completes all clerical (non-clinical) tasks. Answers general questions about location, hours, etc. Performs basic and complex scheduling tasks.With guidance from clinical team members, coordinates referrals and prior authorizations (per clinic workflow), completes FMLA, home health, recertification faxing, school/work notes and other paperwork.Documents clearly and efficiently in the electronic medical record. Accurately gathers/documents pertinent clinical information from the patient to the provider.May be required to perform in-clinic PSS duties as outlined in the PSS job description.

Adheres to and knows in basket productivity measures and turnaround time targets.Excellent listening, social and communication (oral and written) skills and professional, nice and respectful etiquette.Ability to adjust communication style to suit different audiences. Caring listener, delicate, upbeat, optimistic, articulate, gracious and tactful.Knowledge of patient registration procedures and documentation.Ability to promptly assess requests by using electronic and paper resource materials and correctly respond to patient inquiries.Excellent data entry, numeric, typing and computer navigational skills with attention to detail.Knowledge of medical insurance claims procedures and documentation.Knows out-of-network processes.Ability to examine unpaid third-party claims and delinquent accounts to establish appropriate follow up actions to ensure payment.Relaxed working in fast-paced, fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED EquivalentEXPERIENCE - 1 Year of Experience
