UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is looking for a full-time Patient Services Representative to join their team in Mechanicsburg, PA. ( _2020 Technology Parkway, Suite3200, Mechanicsburg PA 17050_ )
Schedule/Shift: Monday - Friday Daylight hours between 7:45am - 4:45pm. No weekends or holidays!

You’ll play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment, guiding patients through their visit, and ensuring they receive the highest level of service. From check-in to check-out, you’ll help patients navigate their healthcare journey with compassion, clarity, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our front office team, you will play a central role in delivering an exceptional patient experience by providing administrative support and compassionate service. Your responsibilities will include:
Patient Navigation & Support:
+ Guide patients through the healthcare system with clear, empathetic communication.
+ Follow up on unresolved patient inquiries to ensure continuity of care.
+ Educate patients on financial responsibilities and connect them with advocacy resources when needed.
+ Administrative & Office Support
+ Perform clerical duties such as scanning medical records, faxing, and managing documentation.
+ Assist patients with self-arrival technology or complete check-in at the front desk based on their preference.
+ Collect copayments and other applicable payments at the time of service.
+ Obtain necessary signatures for treatment and financial consent in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Scheduling & Coordination:
+ Schedule follow-up appointments and connect patients with ancillary services at checkout.
+ Confirm and update patient registration information.
+ Verify insurance benefits through online systems or direct communication with carriers.
Communication & Customer Service:
+ Provide a warm, welcoming greeting to all patients.
+ Promote and assist with registration for the MyUPMC patient portal.
+ Register patients in the Biometrics (fingerprint recognition) program and explain its benefits.
+ Appropriately triage and direct phone calls to clinical staff or other departments.
+ Demonstrate service recovery skills and take initiative to resolve service issues in alignment with the UPMC Experience.
+ Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required.
+ Two years of experience in a medical office / billing / fiscal or customer service function is strongly preferred.
+ Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred.
+ Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
+ Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred.
