Your responsibilities will include: + Patient Navigation & Support + Guide patients through the healthcare system with clear, empathetic communication. + Follow up on unresolved patient inquiries to ensure continuity of care. + Educate patients on financial responsibilities and connect them with advocacy resources when needed. + Administrative & Office Support + Perform clerical duties such as scanning medical records, faxing, and managing documentation. + Assist patients with self-arrival technology or complete check-in at the front desk based on their preference. + Collect copayments and other applicable payments at the time of service. + Obtain necessary signatures for treatment and financial consent in compliance with HIPAA regulations. + Scheduling & Coordination + Schedule follow-up appointments and connect patients with ancillary services at checkout. + Confirm and update patient registration information. + Verify insurance benefits through online systems or direct communication with carriers. + Communication & Customer Service + Provide a warm, welcoming greeting to all patients. + Promote and assist with registration for the MyUPMC patient portal. + Register patients in the Biometrics (fingerprint recognition) program and explain its benefits. + Appropriately triage and direct phone calls to clinical staff or other departments. + Demonstrate service recovery skills and take initiative to resolve service issues in alignment with the UPMC Experience. + Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required. + Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred. + Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred. + Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. + Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + Act 34 **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
