Patient Processing Clerk Radiology PRN

Performs receptionist, registration, and clerical duties associated with direct and scheduled patients for Radiology Department. Schedules procedures for all modalities within the Radiology Department as well as Interventional Procedures/Clinic procedures for Interventional Radiologist.
Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the scheduling system with timeliness and accuracy.
Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding scheduling of exams and obtain pre authorization for insurance if needed.
Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary.
Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.
Maintains, utilizes and provides patients with necessary paperwork per legislative regulation and Hospital policy.
Represents Bell Hospital in welcoming all patients and/or visitors.
Conducts oneself in a manner appropriate to the maintenance of good guest relations.
Reviews admissions, outpatients and emergency room face sheets and data collected for thoroughness and accuracy of patient information.
Maintain records and paperwork for documentation for patient care as required.
Maintains a well organized and clean environment to work at maximum efficiency and
Alerts necessary personnel of private pay patients, Medicaid, Medicare and other contractually governed patients to insure proper authorizations are obtained and financial arrangements are made.
Prints and files patient orders regularly so they are available when patient arrives
Updates computer entry information.
Maintain all items for stock.
Report repair issues to IT or Maintenance as appropriate.
Participates in staff meetings, provides input and ideas in a positive and problem solving manner.
Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.
Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate in professional development opportunities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Completes annual educational requirements.

Computer and/or keyboarding skills required.

*Minimum Work Experience*
Minimum: 2 years experience as an admitting clerk, receptionist or secretary in a healthcare setting.
