Schedule: Full-Time | 36 Hours | Day Shift | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Every other weekend & holiday required
💼 About the Role
Mercy Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and energetic Patient Transporter (Mobility Assistant) to support our Telemetry Unit. In this hands-on role, you’ll help patients maintain strength and mobility through safe ambulation and transport, contributing directly to improved recovery and outcomes.
🩺 Key Responsibilities
Assist patients with walking and mobility exercises to promote independence and physical recovery.
Safely transport patients within the hospital, ensuring comfort and dignity.
Collaborate professionally with nurses, physicians, and other care team members.
Maintain a clean and organized environment by supporting stocking and light cleaning tasks.
May assist with basic clerical duties to support unit flow.
Adhere to safety protocols and infection control procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
✅ Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
CPR/BLS certification required (American Heart Association accepted; American Red Cross preferred).
Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
Must be able to walk, bend, stand, and lift/push/pull more than 50 lbs.
Comfortable working in environments with exposure to bodily fluids and medical equipment.
Prior experience in patient mobility or healthcare transport preferred.
