Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assistant to join our team and enhance patient flow and experience. This role is integral in providing support to physicians and ensuring patients receive timely and accurate information about their treatment, symptoms, and prescriptions.
ResponsibilitiesRespond to patient inquiries via phone regarding treatment, symptoms, prescriptions, and other concerns.Coordinate and set up tests requested by physicians, obtain necessary pre-authorizations, and communicate results to patients, including imaging and lab work.Process prescription requests and refills through written, faxed, or electronic means.Schedule outgoing referrals and send necessary chart information.Request and scan medical records from other physician offices into Electronic Health Records.Complete patient paperwork, such as worker’s compensation and FMLA forms, and document work in the Electronic Health Records system.Essential SkillsProficiency in using Electronic Health Records.Experience in appointment scheduling and patient care.Strong patient education and communication skills.3+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.Certified Medical Assistant (MA) certification.Bilingual skills are a plus.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree preferred.High School Diploma or equivalent required.Experience in ophthalmology and strong computer skills.Work Environment
The work schedule varies between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM, depending on clinic needs, with rare early starts or late finishes. Training occurs at an administrative building in the Galleria for one day. You will work within a team of 8-24 individuals, each physician requiring eight clinic staff. The primary clinic is one of the busiest in Houston, seeing 100+ patients daily. Occasionally, you may support additional clinics in Cypress, Pasadena, and elsewhere, with mileage reimbursement for travel. The environment is extremely fast-paced, handling 80-100 patients daily. The dress code requires navy blue scrubs, short groomed nails, and hair tied back.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
