Patient & Family Concierge- 3M Acute Care
**Interested in joining UPMC McKeesport?** We’re currently hiring a **Patient and Family Concierge** to work from **6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m or 6:30 a to 3p.** This position will have some weekend work as well. **Purpose:** The Patient & Family Concierge is responsible for delivering compassionate, comprehensive service and support to patients, families, and visitors throughout their hospital stay. The primary goal of this role is to create and maintain a high-quality experience for patients, guests, and colleagues. Above all, the Concierge is committed to ensuring patient and visitor satisfaction and upholding the highest standards of care from the first to the final interaction. **Responsibilities:** **Destination Coordination** + Warmly greet patients and families, offering verbal directions and escorting them to their destinations. + Share appropriate patient information while maintaining confidentiality. + Provide information on visiting hours, hospital policies, and general directions. + Issue courtesy parking discounts, free passes, and patient scooters as needed. + Assist with parking cashier functions and validate parking. + Track patient belongings upon admission. **Environmental Services** + Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned areas and with patient-specific equipment. + Replenish supplies and report maintenance issues promptly. **Dietary Services** + Ensure food safety and quality by applying HACCP principles. + Operate food service equipment according to department procedures. + Perform sanitation duties per health department guidelines. + Deliver additional nourishments to patients upon request. **Transportation Services** + Safely and accurately transport patient-specific equipment and lab specimens. + Disinfect and inspect transportation equipment. + Record transport data electronically or manually as required. + Report transportation activity and maintenance needs to supervisors. **Supply & Equipment Management** + Order and stock unit-specific supplies and equipment. + Maintain supply rooms and stock patient rooms, med carts (excluding medications), PPE, and more. + Monitor refrigerator temperatures and expiration dates. + Inventory and remove unused equipment from patient rooms. + Support additional unit-specific tasks as needed. **General Duties** + Answer unit phones and transfer calls appropriately. + Respond to call lights under the direction of Nursing Assistants or Patient Care Technicians. + Interact with patients to assess and support their needs. + Conduct hourly rounds to ensure responsibilities are met. + Print and distribute daily care plans. + Encourage patient mobility, involving clinical staff as needed. + Maintain educational resources and department contact materials. + Follow hand hygiene and infection control protocols consistently. + Report any incidents or events that could impact patient care. + Demonstrate UPMC values and uphold key service behaviors (AIDET, The Promise, 10-5 Rule, Escort Don’t Direct, Own Your Zone). + Distribute medications only to nurses, as appropriate. + Must have the **desire, drive, and compassion** to consistently provide an exceptional patient and family experience. + **High School diploma** **OR** active enrollment in a **High School/GED program** **OR** one year of previous job experience (in lieu of a diploma/GED). + Previous experience in **health care** or **customer service** is a plus, but not required. + Ability to **follow written and verbal instructions** . **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + **Act 34 Clearance** (with renewal required) **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran.**
