Senior Director, Patient Engagement Global Communications
The Senior Director, Patient Engagement Global Communications is accountable for developing and implementing an internal and external communications strategy that positions Lilly as a leader with vision for patient engagement through clinical trial design and delivery. The Senior Director will partner with and provide insights to Clinical Capabilities, the Global Customer Office, and Business Units to ensure Lilly is effectively positioned with consistent, patient-centric, messaging to amplify the work done across Clinical Capabilities, CDDA and broader Lilly to elevate the patient experience. They will be responsible for positioning the core message elements developed in partnership with stakeholders across CDDA for Senior Leadership and designated Lilly staff to strategically engage at key Industry, Public, and internal events and will serve as the owner and be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of Clinical Capabilities messaging strategy. They will actively engage with internal and external partners on new channels, capabilities and technologies that enhance Lilly’s engagement with patients, caregivers, and trusted community partners to amplify inclusive and accessible clinical trials.
Responsibilities:
**Enterprise** **Leadership** **and** **External** **Focus**
+ Develop and lead communication strategy that outlines clear objectives and activities across multiple workstreams that impact the patientjourney, including but notlimitedtodigitalandcommunityengagement, community-based trialdesignanddelivery,andthebroaderclinical trials publications strategy for partners acrossClinicalCapabilities.
+ Forecast and manage budgets for major communications initiatives, aligning resource allocation with long-term strategic goals accounting for needs across PatientEngagementandthebroaderClinicalCapabilitiesorganization.
+ Create and leverage clinical trial approved messaging to create internalandexternal communication plans that include but are notlimitedto: Leadership positioning, speaker opportunities, media engagement and internal activations.
+ Maintain a calendar in coordination with larger corporate communications teams to drive timely and targeted content delivery forPatientEngagement in alignment with thebroaderClinicalCapabilitiesorganization.
+ Influence seniorleadershipandexternal partners, including professional and advocacy groups, patient organizations, and media to shape strategic decisions and drive innovationinpatient experience.
+ Prepare staff, Clinical Capabilities leaders, and designated communicators for key engagements internally and externally, driving prioritization and alignment across Corporate Communications, Business Units, and Masterbrand.
+ Develop engaging communication content including intranet articles, internal social media posts, emails, video scripts, key messages, executive presentations, talking points, and other written materials.
+ Utilizemessaging performance data and audience analytics to advise and adjust communicationstrategiesand implementations to have greater impact, reach, and resonance.
+ Shape internalandexternal environments and drive strategic responses that position leader asaleader for clinical trial modernization and patient engagement.
**People Management and** **Partnership**
+ Lead communications for organizational changemanagement and drive sharedlearning across the enterprise to ensure clear communication of updates to approved messaging, key communications, or cross industry findings.
+ Integrate with enterprise teams such as Corporate Communications, GlobalCustomerOffice, Business Units and other functions to highlight and amplify achievements and announcements acrossClinicalCapabilities.
+ Lead and work with communications vendor(s), inpartnershipwithDigitalandCommunityEngagement, to improve strategies to implement communications plan
+ Develop and run strategic partnershipswithinternalandexternalcommunications partners, proactively identifying opportunitiesforgrowth and innovationinPatientEngagementandacrossClinicalCapabilities.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
+ Minimum of 8-10 years of communications experience in a global, matrixed organization.

+ Agency Management – Manage public relations vendor to assist in analysis and execution of communications strategies if needed.
+ Clinical Trial or Health Care Delivery Experience – Direct experience supporting communications
+ Travel – 10% or less, based on business need

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$151,500 - $222,200
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
