Patient Care Technician - G12E Palliative - Evening/Nights
Patient Care Technician - G12E Palliative * Shift: Evening/Night. 7PM - 7AM, 11PM - 7AM, 3PM - 11PM. * * 40 hours. * * Four shifts per week. A combination of 2 twelve and 2 eight hour shifts per week, with rotating weekends and holidays. * The Palliative Care Unit at MD Anderson provides an approach that improves the quality of life of the patients and their families facing the problems associated with life threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification, impeccable assessment and treatment of all physical, psychological and spiritual symptoms. Conventional and complimentary therapies are utilized on the Acute Palliative Care Unit through an Interdisciplinary Team approach to improve the quality of life for both the patient and family through disease process. Intermediate Level Unit with 12 private rooms focused on providing symptom managements for patients that are at the end-of-life. SUMMARY Function: Provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse. Scope: Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care. Essential Job Functions: · Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. · Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. · Updates and retrieves patient information. · Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. · Acts as part of an assigned care team. · Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION Received: Directly from a registered nurse. Given: None. REQUIREMENTS Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Education Preferred: None. Experience Required: None Experience Preferred: Experience in an acute care setting as a Nursing Assistant Licensure/Certification Required: None. Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Other Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. Refer to the Position Description for specific ADA requirements, and working conditions. Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience Preferred: One year of patient care experience in a hospital setting.
