Patient Care Technician – Full-Time Nights
Location: UPMC Williamsport – 6 West Acute Care Unit
Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Every Other Weekend & Holiday Rotation

Join our dedicated team on the 6 West Acute Care Unit, where your skills and compassion will support patients through their healing journey. As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, hands-on care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Final job title and placement within the career ladder will be determined based on education, experience, and manager discretion at the time of offer.
️ Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, repositioning, and transporting patients.
Perform core clinical tasks: vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, intake/output tracking, specimen collection, Foley catheter care, and telemetry application.
Support advanced care needs: phlebotomy, 12-lead EKGs, bladder scans, IV insertion/removal, simple dressings, and more (based on competency and department needs).
Provide feedback to RNs and assist with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Support a culture of safety, diversity, and inclusion.
Participate in unit activities such as answering call lights, passing meal trays, and transporting patients.
Professional Development
Receive and apply constructive feedback.
Identify learning needs and seek opportunities for growth.
Participate in self-reviews, projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
Clerical & Operational Support
Document patient care accurately in the medical record.
Complete clerical tasks and assist with equipment maintenance.
Transport cardiac-monitored patients and, when necessary, medications (within policy guidelines).
✅ Qualifications & Expectations
Must demonstrate full competency in core PCT responsibilities.
Completion of Basic Arrhythmia class preferred.
Ability to perform at least four advanced clinical tasks (e.g., phlebotomy, EKGs, wound care).
Commitment to patient safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
