Patient Care Technician – Full-Time Days with Rotation
Location: UPMC Williamsport – 6 West Acute Care Unit
Schedule: 7:00 AM- 7:00PM; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Every Other Weekend & Holiday Rotation

Key Responsibilities
♀️ Direct Patient Care
Assist patients with procedures and activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, repositioning, and transporting.
Support physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.
Provide feedback to the RN and report changes in patient condition.
Deliver patient and family education under RN direction.
Apply, monitor, and remove patient restraints per physician or hospital protocol.
Clinical Skills & Competencies
Perform UPMC core nursing assistant duties: blood glucose monitoring, weights, vital signs, intake/output tracking, specimen collection, and Foley catheter care.
Competently perform at least four of the following advanced tasks:Phlebotomy
12-lead EKG
Simple dressing changes
Foley catheter removal
Point-of-care testing
Bladder scanning
Straight catheterization
IV catheter removal
Maintain competency in additional advanced skills as needed, such as:Basic arrhythmia interpretation
NG tube clamping/removal
Complex wound care

Respond to call lights and telephones, pass meal trays, and assist with patient transport.
Report equipment malfunctions promptly to the appropriate department.
May transport medications when accompanying patients, in accordance with hospital policy.
Compliance & Safety
Adhere strictly to all hospital policies and procedures related to patient care and confidentiality.
Follow safety protocols, including standard precautions and infection control measures.
Support department-based projects and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and care quality.
