This position is Full-Time, with rotating day and night shifts. Previous healthcare experience required.
Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.
Responsibilities:
Provides patient care, assists with procedures and activities of daily living, and supports physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies. Performs core nursing assistant responsibilities, including vital signs, specimen collection, blood glucose monitoring, I&O, and more, plus at least four additional tasks like phlebotomy, EKG, or IV catheter removal. Reports equipment malfunctions, maintains effective communication, and establishes respectful relationships within the team. Contributes to unit activities such as responding to call lights, passing meal trays, and transporting patients. Receives feedback constructively, identifies learning needs, and seeks to improve knowledge, skills, and performance. Communicates effectively with healthcare team members and demonstrates cultural competence and professionalism. Follows all safety and patient care policies and procedures, documenting in medical records as required. Assists in patient and family education under RN direction, including applying and removing restraints per protocol. Supports department projects, quality initiatives, and handles clerical functions as needed. Performs advanced skills like phlebotomy, Foley catheter removal, EKG, and NG tube management based on department needs. Adheres to competencies and behaviors, and performs additional duties as assigned. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned. In addition to the required standard competencies, the Patient Care Technician will achieve and maintain competency and/or perform at least 1 or more of the following advanced skills based on department operational need: phlebotomy/venipuncture, peripheral IV removal, indwelling Foley catheter removal, basic arrythmia, 12-lead EKG, and NG tubes clamping and removal.
