Optum Syosset General Surgery has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Patient Care/Surgical Coordinator to join our team. The Patient Care/Surgical Coordinator is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals.

Schedule: A 37.5-hour work week, Monday, through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The schedule will be determined by the supervisor upon hire.

Primary Responsibilities:

Communicating with patients to coordinate surgical procedures for assigned providers with multiple hospitals/surgical centers in a timely mannerBooking surgery with hospital/surgical center by facility guidelinesSchedule pre-operative, post-operative, and any other necessary appointments as designated by providerProvide surgical instructions to patients in a timely mannerCommunicate patients' financial responsibility (if any) and secure prepayment and/or assist in arranging financial agreements from patients according to established policies and proceduresObtaining necessary pre-operative documentation for surgery and providing to facilityActs as a liaison between patient/precertification team/surgical facilityProvides exceptional customer service to patients and visitorsConsistently demonstrates professionalism with patients, staff, providers, and administratorsEffectively communicate and ensure compliance of all related Optum policies and assists in establishing workflows to ensure we meet the business, Provider, and patient needsMaintains confidentiality of patient informationAbility to cover other team membersAdheres to standards of professionalism set by the PracticeAlways maintains professional appearance by adhering to dress code and wearing identification badgeDemonstrates and maintains professionalism in behavior and courtesy toward the patients and staffRespects confidentiality and is HIPAA compliant in all aspects of communication regarding patient, Practice and staff membersFunctions as a member of a team committed to quality patient careTakes initiative to keep informed of new/revised Policy and Procedures, Standards of Care

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED (or higher)1+ years of scheduling surgery experience in a medical practice environment performing duties such as scheduling surgeries and appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical recordsIntermediate level of computer proficiency (multi-tasking through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with an electronic health record (EPIC)Ability to be cross trained as a medical assistant

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.74 to $31.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
